Meet the wonderful team behind Growth Occupational Therapy

Celiane van der Westhuizen

Dr. Celiané van der Westhuizen

Celiané started Growth Occupational Therapy in July 2018 with the vision of creating a nurturing, playful, and child-centred space where children can reach their full potential.

Celiané obtained her occupational therapy degree from the University of Pretoria in 2015 and continued to expand her skills by attending various courses on sensory integration, baby massage, and baby intervention. She is a certified Ayres Sensory Integration® therapist and has also completed specialised training in using play to support children’s emotional well-being, an approach often referred to as play therapy. In addition, she is certified to administer the OPTIMA School Readiness Assessment.

In 2024, Celiané earned her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University, broadening her expertise in paediatric practice. She also obtained an advanced practice certificate in working with the autistic population.

Known for her bubbly personality and genuine passion for working with children, Celiané brings warmth, creativity, and dedication to each session.

Outside of work, Celiané loves spending time with friends and family – as she is a real social butterfly! Running a half-marathon or seeking new outdoor adventures may also be on the list of things to do.

A fun fact about Celiané — she adores Winnie the Pooh, her role model for humility, loyalty, and a big heart.

Lané du Toit

Lané joined Growth Occupational Therapy, driven by a passion for helping children reach their full potential through play and connection.

Lané completed her Occupational Therapy degree at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) in 2020. Her journey into paediatrics began unexpectedly during her community service year, where she discovered the joy and fulfilment of working with children. What started as a change in interest quickly became her calling — and she hasn’t looked back since.

Lané is currently completing her qualification in Ayres Sensory Integration® and is also certified to administer the OPTIMA School Readiness Assessment.

One of Lané’s greatest strengths is her ability to build trusting, meaningful relationships with children quickly. Whether it means sitting on the floor, jumping into the ball pit, or running alongside them, she always meets each child exactly where they are — because, as she says, “connection starts with joining their world.”

Her sessions are guided by play, collaboration, and open communication with families. And as she loves to joke, her “terrible pencil grasp” gives her the perfect reminder of why fine motor skills matter so much!

Outside of work, Lané enjoys expressing her creativity through arts and crafts projects like macramé and drawing, and spending time outdoors hiking or walking her dog with her husband.

Bianca Jones

Bianca joined Growth Occupational Therapy driven by a lifelong passion for helping others and a deep love for working with children. She believes she was born to make a meaningful impact on others, and that occupational therapy allows her to fulfil this calling.

Bianca completed her Occupational Therapy degree at Stellenbosch University in 2018 and has over five years of paediatric experience. She also holds a BA in Humanities (Psychology), which enriches her understanding of child development and emotional well-being.

Bianca has undertaken further training in the Early Learning Outcomes Measure (ELOM) and Six Bricks Duplo, enhancing her ability to support children’s learning through play.

Known for her compassionate and empathetic nature, Bianca brings warmth, encouragement, and joy to each session. Her therapy approach is child-centred and fun, helping children feel confident and supported as they grow. She strongly believes that “children learn best through play,” and always celebrates their efforts to boost self-belief and motivation. She strives to fill each session with laughter because, to her, a child’s smile can turn any bad day into a good one.

Outside of work, Bianca enjoys spending time with family and friends, trying new recipes, going on road trips, and exploring new places—always with a good cup of coffee in hand!
